Florida Helps Consumers Prepare for Hurricane Season and Other Disasters with a Tax Holiday During Which Goods Used in an Emergency are Sold Without Incurring a Sales Tax.

Tax Holiday 2 August 26 – September 8

Florida’s Second Tax Holiday 2023 gets under way in the Sunshine State on August 26. Residents can buy numerous Hurricane Disaster Supplies Tax Free. The Tax Holiday covers everything from Generators and Weather Radios to reusable ice and coolers to flashlights, fuel containers, batteries, garbage bags and a lot more.

Portable Generators with a retail price of $3000 or less also qualify if they are used to provide light or communications, or to preserve food in a power outage.

Florida House Bill 7063 describes several tax holidays for Florida. It passed the legislature unanimously on May 5 and was sent to Governor DeSantis on May 23, just four days before the scheduled start of the first disaster preparedness holiday beginning on May 27.
