New 26kW Briggs and Stratton Highest-Powered Air Cooled Generator
Briggs and Stratton announced a new air-cooled 26kW Standby Generator to lead their PowerProtect line of Home Standby Generators.
For a long time, the most powerful air-cooled generator available maxed out at 20 kilowatts. If you wanted or needed more standby power, liquid cooled was the only way to go with natural gas and propane generators that started at 22 kilowatt and higher. Liquid cooled generators can handle higher loads because they aren’t restricted by cooling with air. Greater electrical power means bigger engines, which burn more fuel and create more heat. Air cooling isn’t efficient enough for larger engines, which limits size in air cooled generators.

The Briggs and Stratton 26kW PowerProtect takes the lead for the highest powered air-cooled generator in its class.
Previously, the most air-cooled power available was a 22 kilowatt introduced in 2014, and the 24 kilowatt introduced in 2020, both by Generac. The 24 kilowatt was the first air-cooled generator to offer more than 20 kilowatts while running on natural gas.
