Florida’s Disaster Preparedness Tax Holiday 2024 gets under way in the Sunshine State on June 1, the start of the Atlantic Hurricane Season Residents can buy numerous Hurricane Disaster Supplies Tax Free. The Tax Holiday covers everything from Generators and Weather Radios to reusable ice and coolers to flashlights, fuel containers, batteries, garbage bags and a lot more.

Portable Generators with a retail price of $3000 or less also qualify if they are used to provide light or communications, or to preserve food in a power outage.

Florida Senate Bill SPB 7074 describes several tax holidays for Florida. It was signed into law by Governor DeSantis. The first of two disaster preparedness tax holidays begins on June 1, the start of the Atlantic Hurricane Season. SPB 7074 represents 900 million dollars in broad based tax relief for Florida families and businesses.

6 Florida Sales Tax Holidays to Know

Summer 2024

Freedom Month runs the entire month of July from the 1st to the 31st. It features tax-free admission to music, sports, and cultural events; movies and museums; single admission or season tickets to theatre and dance; state park admission or annual passes; and fitness facilities. You can purchase tickets tax free during the Freedom Month tax holiday to use anytime between July 1 and December 31, 2024.

Freedom month also applies to boating and water activity equipment and supplies; camping equipment or supplies; fishing equipment or supplies; outdoor supplies; and pool accessories, supplies, or parts;

Back-t0-School tax free purchases from July 29 to August 11, 2024 on clothing, footwear, and backpacks (<=$100) school supplies (<=$50) learning aids (<=$30) and personal computers, computer accessories, and non-recreational software (<=$1500).

Skilled Worker Tools A seven-day tax holiday from September 1-7, 2024, for certain tools used by skilled trade workers. Includes hand tools (<=$50) power tools (<=$300) work boots (<=175) in addition to safety equipment, shop lights, tool boxes and belts, and plumbing or electrical equipment.

Expiring in June, 2024

Energy Star Appliances July 1, 2023 – June 30-2024. Includes Washers, Dryer, Water Heaters costing $1500 or less.

Home Hardening July 1, 2022 – June 30, 2024. Impact resistant doors, windows, and garage doors.

Gas Stoves July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2024. Any gas range or cooktop fueled by combustible gas. Does not inluded outdoor grills, camp stoves, or portable stoves.
